Is it a broken link, because my browser's not letting me view it?
It's working now. I agree with Dustin. Though Englund was good in the first Elm Street, and possibly the 2nd, but after that, he became too into himself, and that's where he lost me.

I remember Robert Englund talking about it at the F.A.C.T.S. convention last year. Funny that they didn't mention Michael Myers.

In my humble opinion, Englund is a raving idiot who had a strong hand in helping drive the potentially-brilliant character of Freddy into the ground.
Believe nothing he says re: a new film.... that's my two-cents.

I don't know what to say about that, but believe it or not he is still one of the actors I look up to. Anyway, I would still love to see what direction they're going to take it to.

Dustin, I always wondered why you disliked Englund so much. Although the later NOES films were a bit naff I had always enjoyed the first few and Freddy Vs. Jason did get me laughing somewhat. But then the other day, I was watching an old episode of Babylon 5 with him in and I realised that he really is an appalling actor. Why have I not seen this before?? I'm an idiot clearly!

I'm a pretty schooled Freddy fan. I've taken in a lot of the films, books, comics and the television show. Englund drove that character into the ground with his one-liners and endless promotional appearances like on MTV and such. I think he was his scariest in NOES 2. Love that one even if no one else does. Incredible makeup, an interesting multi-layered story with a gay subtext about the confusion of puberty and the high school times plus a horrifyingly vicious Freddy.
Englund also has a huge ego, one to rival that of Bruce Campbells. He often says that no one could ever replace him as Freddy because no one moves like he does. That churns my stomach. More like no one positively RUINS a good character like he does.
Also, he often talks about projects that he shouldn't. Stuff that hasn't even BEGUN pre-production or even been written or even had the rights cleared to.
"Freddy vs Jason vs Michael? Yeah we're making it!" - He said this when no rights had been cleared. Akkad wouldn't even given him the character yet he still said this.
"Freddy vs Jason vs Ash". He preached this BIG TIME before anything had been put on paper to get the character of Ash. He's an idiot. You don't do that. That is not how HOllywood or even life works.
That's like saying you're marrying someone before even introducing yourself to them. It's asinine.
Plus most of his other work is TERRIBLE. Not all, mind you.... but most of it.
THAT is why I don't like Englund very much.

Englund's best work, in my opinion, is in The Paper Brigade.
