First, I am one who normally does not get nightmares. I haven't had one for years, no matter how scary a film I see is, I always sleep like a baby. But last night was strange. I have not seen any of Romero's "Dead" films in such a long time, and for some reason, the dream I had was a "Dead" situation. I woke up at 2.30 in the morning, and couldn't fall back to sleep.
Which leaves me to my question. You can answer it seriously, or can use your imagination. What would you really do if you were in a "Return of the Dead" situation.

What would I do?
I would freaking rejoice.
I have seriously wanted a zombie outbreak to happen for quite a few years now. I know it sounds weird, but I honestly think about it all the time... like I'll be somewhere and I catch myself looking around, thinking of escape routes, safety areas, etc. It weirds people I know out sometimes, haha. But they've sort of gotten used to it. I honestly think I could survive if zombies were real. I've seen SO many zombie movies and read zombie books... I think I'm well equipped to handle the situation. By the way, if nobody here has read The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks... you really should. It's great.
But yeah, if it were to happen I would be... well I wouldn't say "happy" because obviously people I care about would probably die... but I would be ready, and semi-excited.

I wrote a creative nonfiction essay about this for a college course. In other words I think about it all the time! Just hope it doesn't happen while I'm at work because I'd be screwed.

I am all with Gopher I would love it except for the obvious people you care about probably dying. Otherwise I feel I'd be ready to blast away some Zombies and survive. I've actually always thought if the Tall Man and Dwarves and all were real that would be awesome I could pack my car up and go around the country hunting him with a 4 barrel shotgun and chainsaw.

Max Brooks also has a book called World War Z. Its an oral history of the zombie world war I've been wanting to read that one pretty badly. I've read The Zombie Survival Guide about three times since I've had it. I need to read it more to prepare.

WWZ was awesome. Japan, Yonkers, the one about the downed pilot... were pretty damned good. He covered a lot of different angles although I don't see eye to eye with Brooks on the mass migrating swarms. Zombies have zero attention span so it seems like they'd get distracted and wander towards something else by the time they caught up with those hundreds of miles away survivors. Ah well, made for some good battle scenarios.

Ammo/Guns/Swords etc etc would be the first thing I'd stock up on. I live in the country so I feel like I would be petty safe as opposed to a big city.

Go to the army barracks that are near my area and steal some guns probably then make sure I had enough supplies to last me untill death then probably find a pc and forget about the whole situation and play some games as usual.
