All I remember ever seeing is Battleship Potemkin. It was OK, but not the best circa-20s era cinema ever.

Oh man, Potemkin.... a classic if there ever was one.
That tracking camera shot as the carriage begins down the steps and the mother, cripes. It's powerful stuff. It's been a while since I've looked into that film, but if I recall, it was pretty influential, no?
I think Brian De Palma's The Untouchables has a similar scene possibly inspired by Potemkin.

i've watched Night Watch and Day Watch in Russian and it makes more sense than the dubbed version

Potemkin is a classic. Back when I was in my cinematic arts courses, it was one of the "biggies" we had to know and learn all about. Aside from that, though, I don't think I've seen any other Russian films.
