Has anyone studied the possible links between string theory and Phantasm...re: sound vibrations...moving through space and time in effect losing a bit of yourself with each change and leaving a bit of yourself behind in different dimensions. Also the shrinking of the dwarves in order to survive or exist in a different dimension could actually tie into this concept. Think of it this way, the sound waves are not tied to this dimension, not stuck, and allow travel between the dimensions much like a pool table... when the balls hit each other the sound waves escape the plane of existance ...the pool table. Which also could explain the "It's just the wind" statements. Ok my brain hurts...

I haven't studied any possible links between the two but that is a really interesting concept. Very interesting indeed!

Any Quantam physicists in the house?? This is one theory that even Stephen Hawking had trouble coming up with. Very difficult to try and get to grips with, but it describes how strings of particles travel through space and time. Either Kate Coscarelli was a genius and should have had a job at Cambridge University rather than write fiction or it's purely a coincidence. Very nice theory though hemi and the principles do fit in nicely, especially with vibrations of the dimension forks and Reggie's tuning fork.
Now my brain hurts.

My brother has a bunch of papers on the String Theory. He went to a lecture that that was the main topic. I went to one, but it all went through one ear and out the other. Quantam Physics is just not my thing.

This is precisely why 9 out of 10 physicists surveyed prefer Phantasm over other leading horror/sci fi movies.
I'm willing to bet Don was a science buff. I always thought the flashback to Reg muting the tuning fork was excellent, implying alternate dimensions. Even as a young kid, it made you wonder.

When you break it down to at least Quantum Mechanics it's highly possible. But also the point where it all gets extremely confusing. Jeb could of course be compared to Einstein in his ongoing mental battle to discover the "Theory of Everything" And who knows, apparently he just may have. My initial point of the sound waves only meant through the movies they obviously are hearing things from another dimension but not actually seeing them...for example when Mike and Jody are standing on the beach next to the ocean...they can hear Reggie fighting it out through the space gate. Which only more enforces the possibilities of another mirrored dimension right next to ours...it's just a matter of tearing a hole and stepping through..this is where string theory comes in a sense protecting the worm hole. String theory demands there are 11 dimensions. It's all a bit complicated but just trying to tie it into the movie I guess and definitely puts a strain on the brain.

I love this stuff. It truly expands the mind! Thank you for the link.
