Well your going to have to get your self some clasic 70s dark wood paneling, some super soul shag carpet, some posters (maybe black light) maybe a gun rack (boy ya dont see those anymore). I always dug those dark wood spindels at the bottem of the stairs too....Hey wait a sec......THATS MY OLD ROOM!

Gopherman...I dug Mike's wall mural so much I made my own out of an old Apollo moon landing pic. I blew it up, then printed out individual 8.5x11 images. It actually didn't turn out too bad.

I sure wish I had a pic to show you all, but in 1980 I found THAT very wall mural for sale at a local hardware store, so cool! And my father and I wallpapered my New Jersey bedroom with it. I also put gray carpeting in to match the mural--which left slight footprints when you walked over it (closest thing I could get to moondust!). To this day, the wall mural is still there on the wall, in very good condition! The picture for the moon mural was from Apollo 17. They used just the top half of the photo--they cut off the bottom part with Schmidt looking up at the huge boulder in the Taurus-Littrow range. The famous photo of the Earth (showing Africa) was photoshopped into the picture (Earth looks much bigger in the mural than you would see from the moon). You can tell I'm a space buff. What I REALLY wanted was to wallpaper my room as the surface of Mars from the 1976 Viking missions, but that didn't exist. So I settled for Mike's room. My parents called my bedroom the "Moon Room." Here's the famous Apollo 17 shot: www.astronet.ru/db/xware/msg/apod/1997-09-05AH! Look here. This is the mural, still for sale after all these years! www.edugraphics.net/gy-murals/gy130-rs.htm

You're welcome, Gopher! Man, it was expensive even back in 1980. I paid over $70 for it back then, which was my entire life savings from my newspaper route! But it sure was made to last--considering it's still in excellent shape 28 years later.

Again, great story Kristen. Reminds me of how my great-uncle used to be an ice cream man... and out in California, no less! Sadly, you don't really see too many ice cream trucks driving around anymore. I remember even when I was young, you'd see them all around during the summer. Now, not so much. A true shame if you ask me.
Oh and Kristen, if you don't mind me asking, how is it that you got involved with Phantasm in the first place? You said that in '85 you were an ice cream vendor and then two years later you were working with THE ice cream vendor... I'm just curious as to what got you there!

What a truly incredible and inspiring story, Kristen. I don't even know what to say! It's such an amazing story... and you write with such elegance! I am really happy things turned out the way they did for you. It just goes to show that amazing things really can happen to people. Like you said, life is amazing when you put your heart and faith on the line. Bravo, Kisten. Bravo.

Gopher that is a cool find! Someone needs to get a stack of those and get them to A. Michael Baldwin, to have him autograph them. It would be something different, and cool! I think it would be a great addition to anyones PHANTASM collection!
