Well, it was too early in the eighties for a fan following of some kind, and P3 was a commercial failure (or at least a lukewarm title in the video library), so we must assume that the Phandom really "started off" in 1998, with the release of Oblivion. Am I wrong?
When did John Kyzla/Dusk create 'Phantasm Secrets' anyway?

Thanks Kristen, for your precious feedback. That truly helps.
So my insight was right and powerful as always (LOL, not so humble tonight), 'Phantasm IV: Oblivion' sparked the flame, and Internet did the rest, 10 years ago. Kyzla was a pioneer, sure as hell. Kudos to him.
So we can assume our Phandom is still a "work in progress", in full development. One day, we'll be even more powerful than the Deadites. ;D

It seems that 'Phantasm IV: Oblivion' was really the breakthrough point of our beloved franchise, and then the barebone DVD release of 'Phantasm' rounded it out (at least in America). That's why Anchor Bay released the Sphere Collection in UK, Phantasm was a best-selling name all around the world.

I guess for me it was about 10 years ago like Kristen said...When I got my first home computer...Fans were few and far between , I joined sites that were virtually abandoned then met about 7 or 8 people and we chatted almost daily, that's how I met Kristen, we tried to get sites/clubs going but it just didn't seem to catch on, that's one of the reasons I was so impressed with this site when I started searching around recently. I am very happy to be here, very happy ;D

John Klyza is a legend. He owns a Delorean time machine too. He lets me use it sometimes.

P2 on Monstervision and Sci-Fi showing P2 and P3 back to back in the mid nineties was what sealed the deal for me, after I seen those two films they had a huge impression on me that I remembered through out the years until I got a computer and found out about the anchor bay releases of 1 and 3 and the rest is history.

I think all the four Phantasm movies must be sleeper-hits on the American cable channels, so I see where you're coming from.
