It's under the calendar section...
Here's a tread to celebrate the most cerebral of the series! Love me some oblIVion.
I want to here what everyone thinks happened at the end of the film. Especially our Chief Archivist. He hints to it in a Podcast, but never elaborates.
Here's my take:
As simple and boring as it sounds, I believe that Mike dies. He dies, but gets to go back and do it all over again. Parallel universes have been hinted at, and I think he went to one. First Jeb goes back through the space gate with the sphere that came out of Mike's head. He takes that sphere back and re-installs it into Mike's head (in 1970's when Mike was a boy). Next, Reg goes through the space gate and returns to the days of old. He jumps in the Ice Cream truck and heads out, not knowing why. Mike then ends the current universe and goes back to when he was young. Mike goes back to the Morningside of old and waits for Reg on a street corner. Reg arrives, being drawn towards that street corner by Mike. He picks Mike up, and the story starts over with a possibly different outcome... but you never know.

I originally put this in the "End of P4" thread, but here it is again, because I'm 100% positive I'm right about this. ;D To tell you the truth, I think P4 wraps the series up nicely. I'd jump for joy to see a P5, but if it never gets made, I wouldn't be upset, either. Here's why: In P1, the Tall Man is after Mike. In P2, the Tall Man is still after Mike. In P3, we find out why the Tall Man is after Mike: because there's been a silver sentinel in his head--quite possibly since the first movie. In P4, the Tall Man gets what he was after: the sphere in Mike's head. As the Tall man would say, "The circle is now complete."

No theory is right nor wrong. That is why they are called theories instead of facts.

Back to what I posted way back when in the "End of P4" thread as well,
I'm thinking at the end of P4, it all just circles back to the beginning. With the "it's only the wind" scene, maybe that was the last night before the Tall Man came. We saw "the last perfect day", maybe this was the "last perfect night" Mike spent with Reg.
*shrugs* I don't know
EDIT by Dustin: Natalie, I changed the French to English on "I don't know." My apologies but ProBoards forbids any language other than English to be used and I think I speak for the other mods and Tony when I say we'd rather be on the safe side. Again, apologies, gal.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years. I remember seeing this around the time it came out.

At the end of P4, the Tall Man pulls the sphere out of Mike's head and goes through the portal. I'm thinking that back in Jebediah's office when "it is the hour", When the Tall Man comes through with the sphere, that that sphere is the one just pulled from Mike's head. Like the Tall Man traveled from the end of P4 to the part where he's back in the office with Mike and Jody... Holy crap, you just BROKE MY BRAIN. ;D

That's a wierd rule.
Do they give any reason as to why it's English only?

They can't moderate what they can't understand, being any language other than English. One would think that common words and phrases would be generally accepted, but they enforce policy pretty strictly. It's a no-tolerance type deal.
And they don't hand out warnings. The forum just gets closed. Just like with Jody. No warning shots.

I'm at work and my dinosaur of a PC doesn't have Quicktime loaded. Is this the Oblivion ending that you edited? If so, it's a goodie. Can't get enough of it.

I explained my theory elsewhere also, but it basically came down to this.
I think the final scene isn't a "re-do" or anything like that. I think the story is continuing. I think that Mike is dying, the Tall Man enters the gate, and Reggie chases him through... right back to Morningside circa the 1970s. In the fifth film, we could see doubles of Reggie and maybe even the Tall Man back in the setting of the first film. We could see old events from new perspectives... maybe after young Mike escapes the basement/dwarfs, instead of cutting away, we stay and see old Reggie sneak back in through the same window. Lots of cool things could happen. Think Back to the Future 2, only with Phantasm.
It's complicated, but it's super cool when I think about it in my head, haha.

All of this oblIVion talk made me go home and watch it twice. Once with commentary and once without.

Man 10 years that is crazy!! I remember me and my friend had just really got into Horror films around the summer of 98 and finding out a new Phantasm was going to be released and being THRILLED about it.
I have to say 1998 was a great year to get into Horror.
