I'm surprised a full DVD review hasn't been written here yet. I expected one around 2 AM EST.

Haha!
I doubt that Wal-Mart will carry it. They didn't have Phantasm 4.
I'll pick mine up sometime today.

I don't know when I'll get mine but it'll be sometime in the near future. Until then, I still have my tape & my superior region 2 disc from the Sphere set.

I'm surprised a full DVD review hasn't been written here yet. I expected one around 2 AM EST. (chuckle) Here's mine. The picture quality is spiffy - bright and vivid colors. This is perhaps the brightest Phantasm film, mind you, and Daryn Okada's cinematography looks splendid in such a presentation. The bad news is that Universal used the censored, R-rated version of the film so you an expect pretty much ZERO blood during Father Myer's drilling scene. EDIT: I got confused. It's Phantasm III that had the cut and uncut version thing, not P2. My bad. The rear cover and disc menus match the front cover and overall, it's not that bad of a package. Hey - at least it all matches. I don't presently have a television set up so I can't judge the audio too well. It sounded fine on my laptop.

Universal usually delivers when it comes to picture quality. I'll give them that. I bet this release beats the Maniac Cop 2 release from First Look. Hahaha.

I can't believe they cut out the blood. Argh. Lame-o.

Like all of it? If so, does that mean the region 2 disc & VHS have more blood in it during that scene? I haven't watched Phantasm II in awhile so I can't remember or not. I'm not a true phan anymore.

All home video releases of II are the R-Rated theatrical version. There are no changes whatsoever. Anyway, I'm going to mall later to get the DVD as well as the new editions of Army Of Darkness, Friday The 13th Part 7, and Friday The 13th Part 8.

Thanks. Next time I'll be sure to study every aspect of the film before I make a post about it in the future.

Kick ass! The new transfer beats the AB UK transfer by a long shot! The menus are cool too!

The transfer does look great.
I went to Best Buy... no copies to be found. Apparently they did not receive the shipment. So I went to a Movie Stop instead. Same price which is cool.
EDIT:
Dustin, perhaps you could clarify this. On the back of the DVD it states that it is copyrighted by "Spacegate Corp." but I always thought that it was the "Silver Sphere Corp." Are these two names simply the same thing? Or was SS Corp. known as Spacegate back in the 80's?

Don has created a number of companies over the years depending on the film he was making at the time. Phantasm was made by New Breed Productions. Phantasm II by Spacegate Corporation (and in fact, had a handful of fake company names in order to keep the film a secret). I don't recall who made P3 or P4, though it may be the Silver Sphere Corporation. Let's not forget Don also has the Starway company. In any case, they're all just fronts for his cinematic endeavors and not actually full-staffed companies with offices and continuing purposes.
