My favorites go in this order: Dawn '78, Night Land Day Haven't seen the Night remake. Looking very much forward to Diary. The remake of Day looks horrid - absolutely terrible. How strange is it that the series is being remade while new entires are still being produced? I wonder if one day Land and Diary will be remade. The first three entires have been - so why not? The 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead was pretty awesome, but everyone involved had their hands in either the original or Dawn and Day. They took pretty good care to make it look and feel like the original, while still being updated and playing with the viewer's expectations. I've heard bad things about the recent 3D remake. Land and Diary aren't Japanese so I think they're safe from being remake for another seven or so years.

Day has the best make-up effects. It's a tad boring at times but it doesn't take away from it. Rhodes is one of my favourite movie villains. Pilato is cold as ice & tough as nails. Land is vastly underrated & gets pooped upon too much. It's not as good as the previous installments but those movies are very hard to top. It's one of the best modern horror flicks in a day & age where most horror movies are PG-13 remake drivel horseturds. I have kind of a love hate relationship with both of those movies. If you combine to strong points of both (minus the tank truck), you get the original Day of the Dead script. For Day I loved the portrayal of Bub. His story line with Doc Logan, and Rhodes rocked. As far as my beefs go, I never found the soldiers vs scientists story to be believable. First off, the soldiers were better armed, numbered, and trained than the scientists. I never got why they didn't just refuse to go down and snag zombies. It was obvious they didn't want to, why let the lab coats push them around? In Land, the main characters never seemed like they were in much danger, and the film could have used a stronger villain. The on base guards were also too dumb to be believable. If you're in a tower shooting at zombies, would you slide down to ground level right into them? If one of them is firing a gun, and you're in a tower safe from the others, wouldn't you concentrate your fire on that one? I did enjoy the action outside of the compound and though the main character was pretty bland, some of the side characters really shined. Also half the fun of the movie was mentally improving on Fiddler's Green's defenses. I'd have built up solid walls out of materials gathered from outside. I'd have also rotated the wall guards with the scavengers so everyone had field experience. And so on.

There were several moments where I found myself thinking "now why on Earth would someone do that?". Another such instance that annoyed me was the kid that was in the shed waiting for the ransom money to be sent over... I mean would someone really put on freaking headphones? No way. But aside from my complaints, I do find Land to be exceptionally good amongst the rest in the genre these days. Diary certainly looks to be good, so that's a bright spot.

But aside from my complaints, I do find Land to be exceptionally good amongst the rest in the genre these days. Diary certainly looks to be good, so that's a bright spot. I could understand the importance of money inside of the city, but I didn't get how they made it worth so much outside, when there was no telling if it would be good for trade. Both the DR crew and Koufman put it at a higher level than it should have been. IMO, the last 1/3 or 4th of the movie would have played out better if Cholo would have sent a manifesto instead of demands and just went after the city. May have mucked up the social commentary, but would have given the movie a stronger villain which is something it needed. At their core, Romero's dead movies are about human conflict. It's one of the things that puts his zombie movies up above the rest and gives more variation to the kinds of stories that can be told. In Night, it was a disagreement on how to survive. In Dawn it was more or less over the human willingness to trample each other in order to survive. Day provided it as a revenge story between Rhodes who'd become less human and Bub who'd more or less regained his humanity. In Land, it was there but I didn't really feel it. The opening of the movie was great. Big Daddy (zombie Moses) was an interesting extension of Bub. The gory payoff at the end was well done. And I loved how the zombies seemed to pop out of anywhere outside. Land was fun to see in the theater on opening day with an auditorium of people in Night of the Living Dead shirts. The cheering during Tom Savini's zombie appearance was a fun moment.

I had no clue a new one was coming out. Learn all kinda info here.
I liked Dawn,Day and my favoriye was Night.I also loved the re-make as well. I'm gonna have to jump on the bandwagon though of that I really hated LAND with a passion. It lacked that element of creepiness and was just corny in my opinion. The part where the zombies walk through the water to the island? Come on... and they start thinking and having feelings as they get more deteriorated and are falling apart. It was a big disapointment. Glad to see that this new one isnt supposed to be like that! I'll definitely have to see it.

I love these films. The remake with Tony Tod is great too. I rented the original unrated version of Dawn of the dead. I'll be watching it tonight. Anyone seen the 3D remake of the night of the living dead called "Night of the Living Dead 3D" with sid haig?

I've got mine at the F.A.C.T.S. convention. I'm not a huge fan of it, because it's not that great. I like the 3D aspects, but other then that it's more of a tribute to zombie films, then an actual remake. One of the things I hated is the fact that Ben is white in it and conflicts are resolved way too fast.

More good buzz for Diary courtesy of Ain't It Cool News: www.aintitcool.com/node/35408This is probably the 6th or 7th positive "review" I've read about Diary. I'm hoping it's as great as everyone who has seen the screenings says it is.

An absolutely ATROCIOUS review of the Day of the Dead remake. I am not at all surprised. I knew this was going to be total shi* over a year ago when I found out they cast Nick Cannon. It actually angers me that these CLASSICS are being remade into utter trash. No, worse than that. Here's the review: www.aintitcool.com/node/35431

Hahaha. Day of the Dead 2. That movie was all sorts of terrible. .
As for the Day of the Dead remake, I'm not surprised that it's getting bad reviews. f**k Nick Cannon! Dave Chappelle!

Oh my goodness. I don't even know what to think about this... Apparently, they are looking to make the classic 1978 original DAWN into 3D. I'm all for more exposure to this film, but this might be just a tad too much. www.aintitcool.com/node/36813

I don't think that'll work. A movie like Dawn isn't something that I'd particularly want to see in 3-D
I heard something about a "sequel" to Dawn as well. One of those unofficial sequels like Children of the Living Dead & the like. I do like those "sequels" since they're pretty much crap. I'm hoping that if it's true, we'll get something along the lines of COTLD or FleshEater, movies so terrible that they're amazing. If we get something like Day of the Dead 2, then we riot.
