Here's a place to discuss George Romero's excellent zombie films. I'm somewhat of an obsessed expert on these, and I think it would be cool to talk zombie with you guys. Just to get things started, I'll list all of the zombie films Romero has made (or has been involved with in some fashion).
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Dawn of the Dead (1978) ***personal favorite movie of all time
Day of the Dead (1985)
Night of the Living Dead (1990 Tom Savini remake)
Land of the Dead (2005)
Diary of the Dead (2007) ***not out yet, but still open to discussion
Well there you have it folks. Go ahead and chew on this topic! (bad joke, I know)

My favorites go in this order: Dawn '78, Night Land Day Haven't seen the Night remake. Looking very much forward to Diary. The remake of Day looks horrid - absolutely terrible. How strange is it that the series is being remade while new entires are still being produced? I wonder if one day Land and Diary will be remade. The first three entires have been - so why not?

I love these movies more than about anything...well not Diary of the Dead...yet since it's not out. I'm sure it'll be great though.
Dawn of the Dead is one of the two bibles I live by. It's a masterpiece. The greatest zombie movie ever made, in my opinion.
Night is the creepiest of the series. It still creeps me out. I love the Night remake too. It's one of the better remakes out there.
Day has the best make-up effects. It's a tad boring at times but it doesn't take away from it. Rhodes is one of my favourite movie villains. Pilato is cold as ice & tough as nails.
Land is vastly underrated & gets pooped upon too much. It's not as good as the previous installments but those movies are very hard to top. It's one of the best modern horror flicks in a day & age where most horror movies are PG-13 remake drivel horseturds.
Diary is something I'm looking forward to like a madman.
I didn't mind the Dawn remake. It was ok. Not necessary though. If it was never made, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
The Day remake looks like a huge flaming turd. I hate Nick Cannon. F*ck Nick Cannon! Dave Chappelle!

I agree, the remake of Day looks absolutely ATROCIOUS. Makes me wanna vomit. Dawn changed my life. Seriously. The only movie that has EVER scared me is the original Night of the Living Dead... and because of this, when I was very young, my older sisters would torture me with it by locking me in a dark room while it was on and other such things. It seriously screwed me up, and I was terrified when someone even mentioned the name of that movie. A few years later, I saw that Dawn was on Cinemax late one night. I was still pretty young, like 8 years old. Needless to say, I was quite reluctant to leave in on that channel. I mean I was in cold sweats. But I knew I had to conquer this fear of Night of the Living Dead. So I left it on... and kept watching. Before long, I was in awe. It sucked me right in. Right then and there I fell in love, and that movie opened me up to horror movies in general. To this day I remain the same whenever I watch Dawn. It's just so special to me. Ok now that the cheesy story is done, I'd like to list my favorites in order: Dawn 78 Day Night Land (I don't think it's a turd, but it's just not as good as the others) I myself am kind of weary about Diary... it looks to be chock full of good looking teens, and Romero has never been one to follow the crappy horror trends. Check this out if you haven't seen much about this movie: www.myspace.com/diaryofthedeadBe sure to look at the pics and stuff. I mean I will give Romero the benefit of the doubt, but I'm still nervous about this one.

Oh and Dustin, the remake of Night is pretty great. It stars Tony Todd as Ben, and he does an awesome job.

I love this series of movies like you wouldn't believe. Sadly my first experience was with the remake of Dawn, but this was before i knew it was a remake.
my order would be....: night dawn day land
This is not to say I didn't like land. I loved it. I love how all of these movies build and build upon themselves. Not to mention the social commentary in all of them. FANTASTIC!
The night remake was really good. Has anyone heard the story about how Savini got that gig directing it? He was suppose to do the effects on the original Night, but got sent to Vietnam instead. So when the remake came up, Romero chose him. Woo. The Dawn remake was alright, and Day looks like shite.
I am quite looking forward to Diary. I was scared at first, but the way Romero is explaining it, I'm more and more excited as time goes by.

Actually Tom Savini did the effects/make-up in Day and the original Dawn as well as starred in it (as the lead biker with the machete). What's even cooler is that he had a cameo in both Land and the Dawn remake. Cool guy.

Dawn is my all time favorite Zombie flick! I didn't care for the remake that much though.
I haven't really saw Day and from what I've heard maybe I shouldn't.
Night is a classic
Land I watched and had no real opinion on other than you kinda felt bad for the Zombies.
I wouldn't mind seeing the new entry though.
Also the Night remake was decent enough.

i must be in the minority then as i love "Land Of The Dead" & "DOTD Remake" visuals play a bigger part for me usually. i didn't see the original dotd until a year or two ago so it had far less impact compared to if i saw it in the early 80's when i should have.
the 1st one is cool. day of the dead i enjoyed. i know i saw the Tom Savini remake but i only saw it once years ago so i don't remember much.
unrelated but i like "Shawn Of The Dead" good ol' goofy British humor with zombies.

a pg 13 rating? WTF? That makes no sense if it's going to have zombie guts flying fast and furious

PG-13 rating make no sense at all to me. It's all about some higher ups wanting to get younger kids in and get more $$

I'm not buying that PG-13 rumor. Not even a little bit.

A Romero zombie movie rated PG-13? If this happens, I'll be pissed.

I seriously, seriously doubt it'll be PG-13. In fact, I'll personally guarantee it. Romero has done nothing but PRAISE how he has total control over this film, and that it's the most enjoyable Dead film he's made. And our pal George isn't the type to put out his legendary zombie flicks at PG-13. It'll be rated R, and the DVD will undoubtedly be Unrated. Worry not, friends.
