Neverdead - Is that any good? Answer in relation to Terminator: Salvation, if you can.
Just picked up Claude Rain's 1940-something 'Phantom of the Opera', which I believe is long since OOP. Makes me very happy.
Also got an uber-cheap six film set of Vincent Price/Christopher Lee films. Delicious.

I think it was a great series. A nice follow-up to T2. Although I liked T3, I thought TSCC was a lot better. Haven't seen T4 yet so I can't really comment on it.
Sucks that TSCC got canceled.

Oh wow, I didn't know TSCC got canceled. Too bad, it was kind of good... The Never Dead, you're in for a treat when you'll see T4. Especially for the references to T2 in it, but that's all I'll say. Just got "Drag Me To Hell". You can really tell Sam Raimi made this one...fans of "Evil Dead" shouldn't be disappointed by it.

Hey what's your sig from?
Coma (1978) - for a 70's movie, what's said about our trusted, elitist hospitals, I found quite groundbreaking . Pretty diabolical. Takes place in Massachusetts, go figure.
Chinatown (1974)
Outland (1981)
Fall Of The Republic (2009)

THE INTERNATIONAL (2009) -
For the past few decades, for reasons I shall never know, I've ignored all the James Bond presentations. The last one watched, I believe, was 1985's A View To A Kill (I guess that's 2 1/2 decades).
Fast forward to, I don't know, a month ago. I picked up The International on DVD. I remember being quite excited seeing the trailer before the movie Vantage Point (blah!) in March of 2008. Now, I'm not saying that the mediocre reviews I came across deterred me from seeing it in the theatres, but we all know, depending on what mood we're in at that very moment when reading a critique, it does.
I just recently had jury duty (God help us all, request a judge and pray you don't get a crooked one [Yeah right], but that's another story in itself! Hangman's Jury I'd call it...) and they had a bunch of outdated magazines laying around the grand assembly room 5 floors up overlooking the Connecticut River. I picked up an Entertainment Weekly, and sure enough The International was reviewed in one of those cutsie little one paragraph blurbs. It too gave a luke warm review of the movie with an extra witticism thrown in for good measure,a zinger if you will. The line of prose I'm referring too read something like "has to do with those evil global bankers, remember those?". I'm sure the writer would have put a 100 or so "rolling eye" emoticons if it were possible. Well, this big money (banks), corporate controlled, mindless drivel, superficial, fake piece of crap magazine can take a bite out of my arse. The movie was (is) great, and more importantly, relevant to what is happening today globally, right now.
The International is a very important movie on many different levels. Why wasn't it promoted? Why was it harpooned?
Basically, it's about global financial institutions conspiring, and brokering armament deals between nations at war. Pitting country vs. country with the financiers and corrupt politicians always in the catbird seat. It's not the profit that is most important to the banks however. It's the creation of debt in these nations by the banks, through loans and issuance of credit. What results from this con, is total control over nations (its' peoples and elected officials through debt), by the global banks.
Now this may seem boring and mundane to the "average Joe", but through the expert direction of Tom Tykwer, it comes across smooth and precise....perfect, but dare I say exciting and entertaining? Hard to do considering the complex and dangerous subject matter.
And I must say, besides the breathtaking on location shots (Turkey, Germany, Italy) and thought provoking story, Clive Owen's performance as an INTERPOL agent is spectacular. The best James Bond we never had.
The International is a movie that contains elements of mystery, action, drama, and conspiracy***. So if that's your bag, sit back, block out all distractions, pay attention, and enjoy!
9 out of 10.
***I'm pretty sure what's depicted in this movie is a possible JFK scenario, which makes too much sense.

The Day of the Triffids (BBC mini series 1982) Hamlet (Mel Gibson Version - wife's choice) Martyrs - recommend this very much. One of the most shocking and creepy films I've seen in ages Innocence La Haine - anything with Vincent Cassel in it is great
